Privacy Policy

Effective July 24, 2026 · Last updated July 24, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Textiles of Africa collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Platform as a designer, brand, or Producer.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: name, email, password (hashed), role
  • Producer verification data: business registration, owner identification, bank details, tax ID — encrypted at the field level and stored separately from your public profile
  • Order and payment activity, processed through our payment provider
  • Content you submit: reviews, photos, messages, bulk order requests
  • Usage data: pages viewed, searches performed, fabrics viewed (used to power recommendations)

3. How We Use Information

  • To operate the marketplace: process orders, verify Producers, facilitate escrow payments
  • To personalize your experience, including fabric and article recommendations based on your own browsing history
  • To send transactional emails (order updates, KYC decisions) and, where you've opted in, marketing communications
  • To detect fraud and enforce these Terms of Service

4. How We Share Information

We share order and shipping details with the relevant Producer to fulfill your order. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We use third-party service providers (payment processing, search, email delivery, cloud storage) who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations.

5. Data Security

Sensitive fields — Producer tax ID and bank account numbers — are encrypted at the field level in our database. Access tokens are held in memory only and never persisted to browser storage.

6. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting contact@textilesofafrica.com. Some information (e.g. completed order records) may be retained where required for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies for authentication (a refresh-token cookie) and session continuity. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days before taking effect.
