Textile Heritage of Uganda

Uganda's textile heritage is anchored by barkcloth-making, a craft practised by the Baganda people of the Buganda kingdom since at least the 18th century. Made entirely from beaten tree bark — no weaving, no dye — it is one of the oldest textile technologies in the world, and the only one from Uganda recognized on UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
